A super cosy and intimate weddings in one of the Kangaroo Valleys best kept secrets – perfectly fitting for a special surprise for guests!!
Keltie and James both met during army training. After being separated for 6 months, they were posted together and have been inseparable ever since! Brought together by their mutual love of adventure and the comforts of home, it was a no-brainer to get hitched in the unique and dramatic landscape in the heart of the Kangaroo Valley, at a little place called Wildwood.
Our bride “sister” squad and the groomsmen got ready inside Wildwood house, which is conveniently dividable through a single hallway – meaning everyone can get ready without seeing the other side. Perfect! The white walls of the house made everything feel light and airy, with a beautiful staircase making the perfect backdrop for some dress shots.
Our groom met his guests at the nearby bush shed while the ladies (being the ultimate hypesquad that they are!) finished their preparations. The ceremony spot was at the famous Valley Lookout – benches lining opposite sides of the space, with an elevated wood platform perched right on the tip top of the valley, framed by gums and eucalypts, overlooking the center of Kangaroo valley with a view to the opposite side of the escarpment.
The fully customised ceremony conducted by Shoshanna from Curator of Love Stories meant that there was not a dry eye in the house of 40 guests (not even mine!). Keltie was carefully escorted down towards her husband by her two sisters, following the steps of James’ sister. It was at the bottom of the steps right at the start of the aisle where James first laid eyes on Keltie in a private moment shared by the two, before the rest of the guests were able to turn their heads and join in. Stories and hopes for the future of their developing little family mingled with reminiscent memories of the past, and family members joined in to bless the rings with their well-wishes and pronounce the new husband and wife!
Little our guests know what was soon to come.
The ceremony ended with a celebratory bang. Literally – strategically placed confetti canons showered down over our couple as they headed back down the aisle. However – the confetti in these canons were a very special colour.
It was here that our bride and groom announced to everyone that they were having a baby GIRL!!!!
It took a moment for it to sink in before there were shrieks of joy erupting from the crowd.
Our portraits were done around the grounds of Wildwood, however we kept it very close by just at the bush shed, nearby gazebo walkway, and inside the house. Then the ladies were off for a quick costume change before partying into the night. We finished up toward the end with a twist on the wedding photo dash – the DJ picked a song, Keltie and James plonked down into the lounge area, and anyone who wanted to grab a photo had until the song ended to do so. It was quick, fun, cheeky, and felt a little bit like a speedrun of a photo booth. Highly recommend!
