Ashleigh & Sacha

Gerringong Elopement

Ocean Farm, Gerringong

A textbook elopement with a little something extra special. Ashleigh and Sacha were hitched with just their witnesses, the celebrant, and me! Ocean Farm, which boasts stunning private views of the amazing Kiama-Gerringong Coastline, served as the amazing backdrop for our super relaxed ceremony and following portraits.

When this one popped up in my inbox, I was thrilled. The ultimate low-key, relaxed elopement vibes in one of the best not-so-secret locations in the Kiama LGA, with a few of the most awesome up-for-anything people I’ve ever met. While it was a little too windy for our plan of jumping into the pool for our portraits, the stunning landscape allowed us some sweeping views with Ashleigh’s dress and hair flowing majestically in the breeze.

Our crew styled themselves – their own hair, makeup and dress choices, with little Zac playing the perfect model, matching his dad. I have never seen a baby so camera-ready, I definitely think this one has the makings of a future model. No matter where I was – if he knew the camera was there, he was looking directly into it! With his bright blue eyes and adorable smile, I couldn’t help but melt every time.

Our groom’s right-hand man (who also created the AWESOME grazing platters) fiddled with a ukelele – an instrument he barely played, but was skilled enough to serenade them down the “aisle”; from the guest house to the end of the sprawling deck overlooking the bay. The ceremony was legals only with a little twist – Ashleigh and Sacha withdrew down the side of the house, far out of earshot, and recited their vows privately to each other and Zac. Out of respect for this moment – I will not be posting any close-ups of this part of the ceremony, to keep it special for their family forever.

Once the couple were officially hitched with the rings of Ashleigh’s grandparents, the bubbly was popped out and we all shared a brief drink, with some special words of congratulations, before wandering off to roam the rolling hills for our photos. Now is a good time to mention that Ocean Farm is NOT accessible to the public without a booking, and is situated on a private road. A couple of unfortunate and lost tourists did end up stuck in a ditch trying to turn around out of the driveway – so please don’t attempt to drop by without organising prior access.

The skies seemed infinite with possibilities, with a beautiful blue contrasting against painterly white clouds, stretching all the way to the horizon and brightening up the vibrant greens of the pastures surrounding us. There was low cloud rolling over the escarpment, and with the lowering of the sun it cast a dreamy golden light across the Rose Valley behind us with the town of Gerringong far in the distance. And did I mention the view?!

I’m not the fittest person – but it was all so worth it. I got my steps in for the day with some magical imagery, truly highlighting what special people this tiny group was, emanating warmth and love and just all round good, fun vibes. Ashleigh and Sacha’s passion for each other never dwindled the entire time from start to finish, which made for some beautiful and emotional portraits.

Just perfect ❤
